What I help with
Individual therapy for adults who want something to change
Adults 18 to 65, one to one, in person in Durango or by video anywhere in Colorado. I'm a generalist by training and by choice — here's where I do my strongest work.
The client I do best with is insightful and wants change but hasn't found the way to complete it. You can already see the thing. You've probably been able to see it for years. What you don't have yet is the route from here to the other side of it.
Below is what people most often bring in the door. It isn't a menu — most people arrive with two or three of these tangled together, which is normal and fine.
Trauma
Processing what happened so it stops steering decisions you think you're making freely. This is the centre of the work for a lot of my clients, and EMDR is often part of how we do it.
Men
Three sons, two older brothers, a house full of guys. I understand how men tend to carry what happened to them, and how much they'd rather not discuss it. You don't have to be good at therapy to start therapy.
Adults diagnosed later in life
Autism or ADHD identified at thirty, forty, fifty. We work on dropping the mask you built to get by, taking the stigma out of it, and putting real tools in place.
Ending a family pattern
You've watched the same thing move through three generations and decided it stops with you. That's a specific kind of hard, and it's worth doing.
Anxiety & depression
Often the goal isn't only your own relief — it's that your partner and your kids get a better version of the day. That counts as a reason.
Complex diagnoses
I've been doing this long enough to be comfortable with harder cases, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
How sessions are delivered
In person, Durango
2223 Main Ave, Durango, Colorado 81301.
By video, anywhere in Colorado
I'm licensed in Colorado, so I can see you by video anywhere in the state — which matters if you're in a mountain town without much choice of provider, or your week doesn't allow a drive. Plenty of clients mix the two depending on what's going on.
Individual therapy only, for now
One to one with adults is what I offer. I'm not currently taking couples, family or group work, and while I have experience with children I prefer to work with adults.
If I'm not the right fit
Sometimes the honest answer is that someone else is better placed to help you, and I'd rather say that early than let you spend months finding out. If what you need is outside what I do, I'll tell you and point you somewhere useful.
Not sure whether to reach out?
You don't need a diagnosis, a tidy explanation, or a reason that sounds serious enough. “Something isn't right and I'm tired of it” is a completely sufficient starting point.
The first session is mostly just finding out
$150 for the intake, $125 after that. Sliding scale case by case — ask.
